PART- 5
It was past
mid-night, both Arnav and Khushi were in deep slumber being tired of today’s
events when Khushi heard some faint voice calling out to her. At first she
ignored it in her sleepy state of mind but then when the voice continues to
call her she sat straight on the bed rubbing her eyes.
Khushi!
Come here!
I need you!
Hearing someone calling her Khushi looks here
and there to see if someone entered inside there room, but upon not finding
anyone she got confused, so she focused on the voice which she found was coming
from outside of their room.
Confused she looks beside her to find her man
comfortably sleeping as if he didn’t heard anything.
“Wow! Mrs. Raizada what a husband you’ve got
who is sleeping comfortably while here some idiot is disturbing his wife’s
sleep. Normally he’ll get up even with a small noise and here today when
someone is calling out for his wife in the mid-night, then see he is sleeping
selling all his horses,” she murmured in annoyance and then looking towards the
wall-clock she muttered “Who the hell is disturbing at such a time? Should I
wake up Arnav? Ugh! No! I think first I should myself see to it,” saying this
she got out of the bed and move towards the door.
It was past mid-night, both Arnav and Khushi
were in profound sleep being worn out on the present occasions when Khushi
heard some swoon voice calling to her. At first she disregarded it in her lethargic
perspective however when the voice keeps on calling her she sat straight on the
bed rubbing her eyes.
Khushi!
Come here!
I need you!
Come Khushi!
Hearing someone calling her Khushi looks here
and there to see if someone entered inside there room, but upon not finding
anyone she got confused, so she focused on the voice which she found was coming
from outside of their room.
Befuddled, she looks close to her, only to
discover her man sleeping comfortably as though he didn't heard anything.
“Goodness! Mrs. Raizada what a spouse you’ve
got who is dozing serenely while here some nitwit is irritating his better
half's rest. Commonly he'll get up even with a little commotion and here today
when someone is calling out for his wife in the mid-night, then see he is
dozing selling all his horses,” she mumbled in irritation and after that
looking towards the divider clock she murmured “Who the hell is disturbing my
sleep at this odd hour? Would it be advisable for me to wake up Arnav? Ugh! No!
I think first I should myself see to it,” saying this she escaped the quaint
little inn towards the door.
Opening the door gradually with no commotion
so as not to aggravate her sweet spouse she ventures out of the vicinity of her
room and move towards the direction from where the voice was coming. Following
the voice she soon found herself standing in front of the same room which has
been closed for years so as to prevent the so called ghost to harm anyone.
Shrugging her musings she look towards the
closed door in perplexity regarding how she heard the voice from behind a closed
door. Even before she can contemplate over all these she once again heard a
similar voice.
Khushi!
Don’t think too
much…
Just come here….
Come Khushi!
Come!
Befuddled yet astonished she move towards the
shut door and ran her finger over the wooden entryway from where she was
hearing the voice. Moving her eyes somewhat down she saw a coordinating handle
of old style with a major bolt around it alongside some red-yellow strings
which were entwined upon it.
She ran her fingers over it when all of a
sudden she heard the voice once more.
Yes Khushi!
Open it!
Open it Khushi!
But, before she can do anything she felt a
hand behind her. Realising someone’s presence behind her she look over her
shoulder to find Arnav standing there with his sleepy eyes.
“What're you doing here as of now?” he asked
passing his hands through his already ruffled hairs.
“Umm! Really! Arnav do you heard some voice?”
Khushi asked and after getting a positive gesture from him she added “You did?
Right?”
“Obviously sweetheart! I heard the voice-your
voice,” he said giving a sloppy smile.
“Arnav please! It’s not a time to joke
around. I’m serious,” Khushi answered a bit annoyingly.
“Then I’m also serious baby. As serious as
you are. By the way you still didn’t tell me that what you’re doing here that
too at this odd hour?”
Would it be a good
idea for me to tell him regarding that voice which I heard some time before? No
Khushi! You simply heard what he said? He didn't hear any sort of voice.
Perhaps that story about the ghost has taken a toll on me and thus I’m
hallucinating all these. Yes! That is the reality. How might you even think in
those lines Khushi! Remember that there is nothing like a ghost, and stop
envisioning every one of these poops, she chided herself rationally.
While
Arnav who was waiting for her reply saw her lost in her own, so he shook her a
bit to bring him out of his stance.
“Wifey! Where have you been lost?” he
inquired.
Placing her arms around his neck she winked
mischievously and said “Nowhere hubby dear! Was just thinking that my hubby
can’t live even for few minutes without me.”
“Well! That’s the truth,” saying this he
placed his hands on her waist and pulled her closer to him.
Their front touching each other, his hands
playing with her midriff while hers garlanding his neck, their breaths slamming
into each other while eyes gazing into each other. Arnav draw his face nearer
to his woman to devour her but Khushi pushed him back and wriggle out of his
hold.
“What?” he asked annoyed at the breaking of
the lovely moment.
“Well! Well! Hubby dear we’re in India that
too in the mod of your family. And I don’t think all this allowed here.”
“Gracious hi! Madam you're my legally wedded
wife,” he said in attitude.
“Baby then also you’re not allowed to do it
outside our room,” saying this she winked and ran inside the room while Arnav
too followed her.
Next morning, Khushi woke up in the arms of
her handsome husband. Affectionately putting a peck on his forehead she came
out of the bed and went to freshen-up not wanting to give the elders a reason
to get upset like last time.
Taking a much needed cool shower she came out
wiping her wet hairs only to find her husband still sleeping with his mouth
slightly parted. Shaking her head with a smile muttering a ‘cute’ she slide the
curtains making the sunrays to enter inside the room disturbing her husband’s
sleep.
While she sit in front of the mirror, fill
her partition, place a bindi on her forehead, apply kohl in her hazel eyes and
wear the matching bangles. After getting satisfied she turns around only to
find Arnav staring at her making her look down while blushing.
“Goodness! I want to eat you raw seeing you getting all tomato red.”
“Hubby dear, keep
this romance for some other time. Now get up and get ready,” saying this she
too left down the stairs without giving him any chance to say anything.
Upon reaching downstairs she saw everyone
else near the temple offering their prayers to god. She too joined them, after
which along with Roshni she move towards the kitchen area while others move
towards the main hall.
While cooking she remembers previous night
incident. Though she has shrugged it off as figment of her imagination but
still the curiosity inside her to know about all this is raising it head so she
asked Roshni.
“Umm! Roshni!”
“Yes!”
“Yesterday I got to know about your
miscarriage. I’m sorry to hear about it.”
“It’s okay. What is written in your destiny
can’t be changed. May be I don’t have a fortune of having child.”
“Why're you saying
so Roshni. Try not to think so negative.”
“It’s okay. What is written in your destiny
can’t be changed. May be I don’t have a fortune of having child.”
“You not accepting won't change reality
bhabhi,” she said a bit irately, wiping her sodden eyes.
Realising that she has hurt her sentiments
unintentionally she apologised for the same.
“I’m sorry Roshni. I didn’t meant to hurt
you. Really! Okay! Tell me if this house has taken away your happiness then
why’re you still living here? I mean anything which is cursed or jinxed, we
tend to keep ourselves away from it. And according to you all this house is
nothing less than it?”
At this Roshni didn’t speak for a while, but
after a few moment she said “You’re right, we should move out of here. And
honestly I too want the same but daadi ji…”
“Daadi ji what?” Khushi asked.
“Actually daadiji doesn’t wants to leave this
house, and we can’t leave, leaving her alone here.”
“But why so? I mean what’s the need to stay
at a place which is costing someone’s life?”
“May be her attachment to this house. She has
spent her whole life here, so…”
“But…”
“Khushi bhabhi! Let it be! Let the life go as
it is! Moreover we should move outside. The breakfast is ready.”
Getting the cue that she didn’t wants to talk
about all this Khushi nodded her head in affirmative and both went towards the
main hall.
After settling on the dining table all of them
start having their breakfast talking about random things when all of a sudden
Arnav remembers the last night incident and asked “Khushi! You still didn’t
tell me that what you were doing outside that closed room at mid-night.”
As soon as the words came out of his mouth
everyone else look towards Khushi.
“What? What’re you saying Arnav? Do you mean
to say the room where the ghost has been imprisoned?” asked Narmada Devi in
horror.
“No granny! I mean to say the room which you
guys have locked unnecessarily on the name of ghost,” Arnav said annoyed.
“Just because you guys don’t believe in all
this doesn’t mean it is not the truth.”
“Okay! Okay! Let it be, otherwise this will
keep on going.”
“Hmm! But Khushi you still didn’t tell us
that why you even went there?” Narmada Devii asked.
“Ugh! Nothing! Actually I was feeling thirsty
so, I just got up and was going downstairs but as soon as I reached near the
room I remember all those stories you told so, I was looking towards it when
Arnav came there,” Khushi said not wanting anyone to know about what she
imagined.
“But Khushi you didn’t drink the water and
you were also saying….”
“Do you want to become James Bond Arnav?” she
asked interrupting him in the middle of their talk while Arnav just nodded in
negative.
Rest all was a silent affair because no one
wanted to talk about it due to their own reasons unaware of the storm which was
moving towards them ready to unearth many secrets and bring a devastation with
it.
